What do you think about when I say mulled wine, hot chocolate, desserts, souvenirs, colorful light and Christmas Carols? Of course, Christmas Market! We had the chance to visit Toronto Christmas Market which opened November 16th this year. Distillery District is like a town on its own already, but with Christmas market it was transferred to a Christmas town. Toronto Christmas Market is counted among the best Noel markets in the world. 600.000 people were expected to visit the market, we don’t know the last count but each time we were there, it was so crowded.
If you are looking to buy a present for yourself or for someone, Toronto Christmas Market is just the place. In addition to the boutiques in Distillery Districts, you can find lots of beautiful things from the participated vendors. There were not only souvenirs, but there were also different cookies, desserts that could be bought as a gift. If you want to eat or drink at the Christmas Market, we should say that it was a bit expensive than it should be. However, it is just so lovely to have a sip from your mulled wine while being warmed by the fire that has been lighted. You can get stuff like poutine, waffle, hot dog, butter tart from the vendors or you can just choose one of the restaurants in the Distillery. It is wise to make a reservation for the restaurants beforehand, though.
Within the Toronto Christmas Market, Winter Garden and Beer Garden are our two favourite spots. Also we enjoyed to listen Toronto based Jazz singer Steven Taetz at our first visit to the market. Everyday there is an event going on in the market, you can check it from Toronto Christmas Market’s website.
We couldn’t photograph Toronto Christmas Market under snow, it would be awesome if we could. Maybe next year!
